DIY Kindle Case
I wanted some sort of case for my new Kindle, but didn’t want to pay Amazon prices. In case it is of any use to anyone else, here’s how I made it…
Step 1 - Preparation
Got myself a cheap A5 notebook from WHSmith - only £2.99 in their half price sale.
Steel Rule, sharp knife, glue, pen, that’s about it.

Step 2 - Hollow it out!
Trace the Kindle onto the 1st page, then cut the shape out using the knife and steel rule. I used a magazine to stop myself cutting into the back cover.

Step 3 - Tidy up those edges
OK, so after cutting all those pages out, cut and score front endpaper so it can be folded into the new recess you have just created. Also cut off enough of the back endpaper to fit perfectly into the recess to tidy everything up.

Step 4 - Sticky Fingers
Spread some PVA glue around the inside of the paper edges, then glue the cut front endpaper into the recess. Finally cut the back endpaper you cut off in Step 3 to shape, and glue it into the recess to hide all the mess and make the pattern match the inner front cover! I bodged this bit up, and forgot to pattern match before I cut it out, so I have a gap at the top. You live and learn.

Step 5 - The end result
So here’s the Kindle ‘in situ’ - I must confess to being pretty pleased with the results.

Kindle? Or book? (Psssst, it’s a Kindle)
